Buying Corner Sofas
Educating yourself before marching in to a furniture store
to begin your search for the right sofa is always a good idea.
You'd think yourself well-informed until you're presented with
an array of styles, materials, colors and designs to choose
from. Of course, expect salespeople to be helpful with a
selection of corner sofas. They'd make a recommendation or two,
that's for sure. But one thing you need to bear in mind is
this: Salespeople at furniture stores are experts at what they
do selling. They're not furniture experts.
Having said that, here are some basic truths about corner
sofas:
1. Utility has a price. How long do you want your corner
sofas to last? Do you redecorate and change furniture every six
months, every year or every two years? Or is it a case of
replacing it when it needs to be replaced? Each piece of
furniture, corner sofas included, have economic lives. They can
be used only for a fixed period of time, after which, they need
to be replaced. The longer you'd like to use your corner sofas,
the farther away you should look from the cheapest of the
bunch.
2. Excellent dollar value is in the middle. Mid-range is always
a good choice. The upper end of the price range can cost
thousands of dollars more what you'd ultimately select but
don't really give you the incremental benefits of comfort and
satisfaction beyond aesthetics. Cheap disintegrates after only
a few months and will likely cost you more in the long run.
3. Springs are better than foams. Springs provide a sturdier
feel and are better at holding up weight. Foams, depending on
quality, will sag after a while. Just remember to pick pieces
with hand-tied, eight-way springs. These are by far, one of the
best in sofa cushions.
4. Fabric type is important. For more than its visual effect,
the fabric used on your corner sofa needs to be durable. It
would be a shame to have to replace a good piece because of
stains you can't remove or due to premature fading of the
corner sofa's surface fabric. Get information on the type of
fabric used for the sofas you're considering. You'd want to get
one with an easy to clean fabric type. Also, pick one tested
for double rubs. And remember that where a number represents
double rubs, the higher, the better.
Quest for Quality
The points above are important although it might make buying
corner sofas a huge quest. But see, every purchase is a quest
to find what matches your need best without having to spend any
more than you have to. Unlike women's fashion, corner sofas are
priced more for their intrinsic values. So take your time. Read
up reviews, ask a lot of questions. A few basic questions tell
you right away if the sales person you're speaking to has
bothered to be an informative help. Don't be sold on the sales
pitch alone. No matter how nice your salesperson is, you don't
want to be bullied into doing something, do you?
